Friday, January 18th - All grades

Fourth graders are conferencing with their teachers as they write Massachusetts biographies.

Fourth graders dissect math problems underlining key words and numbers in order to solve them.

Sixth graders discuss technology and whether it is important to be connected 24/7.  Some students cited the need to be available should anyone need them.  Others talked about waking up to many texts simply stating “hey, what’s up” which interrupted their sleep.

Sixth graders conference with Mrs. Bentley on their European projects.

Fifth grade students are working on landscape silhouettes.  They are beginning by choosing blue or purple as their moon.  They are learning to paint different tints of a base color.

In computers and library this week we have been focusing on Internet Safety with Grades 4 through 6. In Library, Mrs. Reusch read the book, Bully, by Patricia Polacco.   In computers, Mrs. Pazdziorny has been using the Netsmartz program. With Grade 4 we have been using Netsmartz Kids, while Grades 5 and 6 have been using Netsmartz Tween.

The sixth grade Geography Bee was held Friday morning in the cafeteria.  All sixth graders participated initially with early elimination rounds taking place in their homerooms.  Questions challenged students to identify lakes, rivers, land forms and more.  Two finalists emerged, Kyle Teixeira and Dante Leone with Dante winning the Geography Bee.  Dante will complete a written test which will be submitted to earn a place in the state Geography Bee.  Thank you to Mrs. Bentley for organizing this challenge and to Mrs. McCarthy and Ms. Windmiller for their help in judging and time keeping.
